The Good News You Were Never Told
An angel announced it to the whole world.
Luke 2:10-11
But the angel said to them, "Don't be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY that will be for ALL PEOPLE. Today in the city of David a Savior was born for you, who is the Messiah, the Lord."
You have believed that verse your whole life. You have never named what the good news actually is.
Peter says you were born again through the Word of God. Then in the same sentence he says what that means: THIS WORD is the good news. The Word of God is the good news. Peter made them the same thing.
You were told the Word of God is the Bible. You said it. You sang it. You probably taught it. Nobody ever asked you to prove it from the text. And nobody told you that Peter had already defined the term, and that his definition points somewhere specific.
What you find when you look will sound wrong at first. It sounded wrong to me.
Peter quotes it. It is not the Bible. It is a specific passage from Isaiah that came from God's own mouth seven hundred years before Peter was born. It is the good news the angel was announcing.
Scripture says you are born again by this Word. It says faith comes by hearing this Word. It says this Word is what saves. If you have never identified it, you do not know what saved you. You do not know what the angel announced. You do not know the good news by name. You have been walking past it every time you opened the book that contains it.
Either the angel announced something specific and you can find it, or you have believed it your whole life without knowing what it is.
You were not asked to look. We are asking now.
